Aggressive behavior in children and adolescents continues to be serious and an increasing problem in our schools, on the streets, and in our communities. Washington Aggression Interruption Training is a cognitive behavioral intervention designed to assist youth with aggression, reduce anti-social behaviors, and offer an alternative of pro-social skills. In the weekly sessions, participants gain tools which allows them to solve problems, make decisions, and interact positively in social situations.
This training for facilitator certification includes training spent on each of the three core components of the program: Social Skills, Anger Control Training, and Moral Reasoning, in addition to group dynamics and implementation issues.
Training Performance Objectives:
•Training participates who demonstrate competency to the instructor’s satisfaction, will be certified as WAIT Trainers at the completion of this course.
•Describe how to conduct and operate a 10 week group session with adolescents.
•Verbalize how to build specific knowledge in Social Skills, Anger Control and Moral Reasoning training.
•Verbalize and demonstrate skill training in group settings.
•Demonstrate the acquire skill needed to operate a group and apply group management techniques.
•Explain how to evaluate and measure the program with model fidelity.
***We suggest having two staff from agencies attend because you need two facilitators to run the groups.***
